Fixed Bug List
Latest Forum Post Sidebar brokenYouTube videos aren't automatically embedded
Here's our "old" bug list from the last big update:
Following our “minor” DNS problem , we decided to push forward the long planned updated to Joomla and Community Builder, the Content Management Systems (CMS) we are using. As we were in the midst of planning, many issues had to remain unresolved and we are going to address them in due time one by one.
For now, we ask that you report issues in this thread. For the sake of clarity, please do not use this thread for discussions or questions on the new functions. Also, please refrain from cross or double posting issues.
Note: When your post in this thread gets deleted, your issues is not necessarily resolved. For reasons of clarity, we might only update the list of known issues and delete your corresponding post.
Known Issues
Missing Data/ Disabled Features:
- Some images from before June 2014 are gone even though they should be there
- User settings had to be reset, as copying the old ones produced errors/blank pages
- On Editing Profile, “Email : This input value is not authorized.” error. → This is not a bug! See 5 July 2014 announcement .
- Article content: links broken and images missing
- On cached proxy connections for bandwidth conservation (Opera Mini, Safari, Chrome, ...), dynamic content is not updated in real time.
Design Issues:
- User Profile menus need to be styled and sorted
- Layout of new templates need to be “Hey-AI-ified”
Special forum ranks are missing their rank images- Profiles and Registration need to be re-arranged to be “prettier”
- On mobile devices the layout suggests that there is a special mobile version of the site; hence, someone might look for the “desktop version” button/link. → There is no such mobile version; it is the same site, only the floating containers are arranged differently in portrait mode.
- On editing gallery items the edit box
opens partially outside of the browser view andis not movable. On displays with insufficient width, Forum Control Elements as well as Forum Message Text is not wrapped properly and overflows the screen to the right without scrollbars.- Improve Mobile design (There is software for that, but it costs money)
Real Bugs:
- Some old links cross-referencing within Hey-AI don’t work as shortcuts might have changed (e.g., /cb-profile ); expect old forum posts to contain such links!
On pages that don’t exist (404 error pages, e.g. /does/not/exist ), the image in the top left recursively leads to the same error page. Also, the text (“The Social Network for Asian Men & White Females, and Likeminded”) is missing on that image.Embedding YouTube Videos may not work due to strict browser security policies (Hey-AI! being encrypted via HTTPs and trying to sideload unencrypted content from YouTube). On some browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer) you may select to unsafely reload. → In the profile wall we added a corresponding error to be displayed, now.→ If called in secure context (HTTPs), YouTube videos will be embedded in secure context. Error message remains displayed for compatibility reasons.Hover menus in the navigation bar flicker and it is hard to select an item as the menu disappears in the moment you move the mouse.→ Fixed? At least works in Firefox and IE, now.- When trying to go to the next page of list of friends (only in Safari?) it directs you back to the main tab and then you have to click on the connections tab again to see the next page of the list.
Users are constantly logged out prematurely→ We turned off forced encryption in Joomla and created a ModRewrite rule instead.Deleting wall posts does not work → “An error has occurred while processing your request.”→ This was a bug in the Wall plugin and is fixed now!Timestamps are incorrectly displayed in the profile wall and activity tabs (e.g. in the future instead of the past) ignoring Timezone settings.→ Imported a bug fix from the latest nightly build of CommunityBuilder.Country search is broken, some search functions are activated, but missingAdvertisement does not display (actually an issue since May 2014)→ Ads should be starting to show up again within the next 48 hours. When browsing to an anchored page (e.g. a specific forum post ), the page jumps to the top of the content rather than the anchor specified. → This issue may be related to the “Back to Top” plugin we are using (the small blue triangle that appears at the bottom of the site when you scroll down). For now, we have added a JavaScript that fetches the anchor from the URL and repositions the content on the anchor right after the site has jumped to the top (it takes about 1.25s after page loading), so don’t wonder if the page jumps up and down again.[/ul]

Some mail services block e-mails from us, which is why we have to disallow them. We need users to be able to verify their e-mail addresses due to excess forum/pm/wall spam problems in the past.

Where do you mean exactly? Here on Hey-AI! where you need to click on the consent, or in the chat itself? In the first case, please describe in more details what is happening. In case of the latter, please direct your issue at TinyChat support ( http://tinychat.com/help.html ).nella wrote: 2.For some reason when I log onto chat I can get on but I cant scroll down and I cant type messages .Is it just me?

The more users/guests, the more server load. As soon as the load gets too high (25; normal is aroung 0.5 to 0.8), the error page is displayed in order to allow the server to reduce load (while the error page is displayed, no database queries are made (yet allowed), hence reducing the load significantly). However, since people seem to constantly refresh the page (our logs show some users refreshing the page 135 times in those 5 minutes; that’s 27 refreshs/minute → WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!), the server sometimes does not manage to return to acceptable load (below 15) in those 5 minutes.AoNoYoru wrote: Btw, what's with Hey-Ai's server going down all the time? It's becoming increasingly constant and the more lengthy. Each time it goes down it's 5 mins but just now it happened twice in a row.. one after another.
In addition to described problem above, we make regular backups:The backup processes (especially the first two which are run by Plesk) add significantly to the server load and are hence scheduled in the US night time (60% of our site traffic comes from the US). The sunday backup (a bash script I wrote that TGZs the files and database and uploads the two TGZ files to a backup server in Germany) does not actually ad to the load that much. - Keep in mind, a backup of the site alone easily covers over 3GB of data.
- Global Server Backup: everyday at 10:17h UTC
- Site Backup: everyday at 12:17h UTC (was 13:17h; just changed that a few minutes ago)
- External Backup: every Sunday at 07:27h UTC
LOL 27 times a minute?!?! Wondrous. Um... what are "guests"? I am guessing they're people who aren't logged in but..wouldn't that mean they wouldn't be able to enter any of the pages?

There has never been a mobile version; I just checked in the old version of the site which we are running in a backup location, and there is no special version. Are you sure this “desktop” button was included in the site and not a feature of your browser?Whatusername wrote:

Sorry to come back to this, but there are some bugs in the current floating containers when viewed on the phone. Time stamps are missing on posts, and I think total "thank you" is missing from the profile box on each post as well.
Has this always been the case that there is not a mobile forum, or did we have one before? I only keep coming back to this because of the "desktop" option that we used to have for Hey Ai that displays the site exactly like a computer would. I'm just wondering if that's something we had on the old site that we no longer do.

Yah, there is a jQuery or MooTools script that keeps adding to the browser's functions pool. At some point mobile browsers (and a bit later also desktop browsers) say "bye" and either terminate gracefully or die forcefully in a crash.JunJun.fr wrote: When browsing hey-ai with phone, browser shuts down after a few minutes.
Anyone else had same issue ?
Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 4.4.2; en-us; SAMSUNG GT-I9505
I haven't have had the time to record a session in order to determine whether it's a built in script, or one of mine... I guess either one of my on-resize listener functions, or one of the Kunena/CB fixes is responsible.

Mr Grim wrote: I'm not picky, so the new format for the site is good overall, but the only issue i have, like many others, is the "server overloaded" message keeps popping up and having to wait for the site to reload again..
This is one of the bigger issues, yes. We are aware of that. I can only repeat what kari once said: We are working hard in the background - even though it doesn't look like it at the moment. Please be patient.

We addressed the issue regarding the loading time already. It involves a lot of work (and time and money).korman wrote: This site is slow as hell,
